Financial Planning - You Must Take Control of You!

“Seize the opportunity. Use financial planning to create wealth. Make a difference!”

Whether you believe it or not there’s only one factor holding you back from achieving the success you desire. It’s not the government, politicians, your employer or your family. It’s you. You are the center of your life. Only you know and understand the goals and dreams that you have set for yourself and your family.

You are the one rich with dreams and aspirations for a prosperous life for yourself and family. But you haven’t as yet achieved those goals and that’s because you may have been relying on everyone else except yourself to lead you.

Unfortunately, this is also happening with your financial goals. Don’t get me wrong. Seeking advice from financial institutions is great. However, it means nothing if you don’t have goals outlined and a financial plan that you are sticking to in order to help your dream manifested.

You can’t blindly turn your financial future over to someone else and let them decide your financial planning and what products and services suit your needs.

So what do you do?

The key to you achieving the financial security you’re looking for is, to give up your dependence on others and seize control of your life. Stop looking to the government, your employer or some others to protect your Dreams. You’ve got to take an active role in making the decisions that determine your family’s future.

You must begin to develop and learn some new habits that will allow you to take control of your time and money. Remember nobody cares more about your dreams than you. So you must know what you can control and how to maximize those opportunities. It’s attainable, but will take some sweat on your part.

You can control the amount you save for retirement; you can control the amount of your income; you can control and means to reduce your expenses. You are in control of maximizing your investment income, increased savings and deciding of how your investment money is invested.

You have little power over your employer, the economy, inflation and government policies but you do have power over you and how you handle your time and money. You do have power over your protection management; asset management and; debt management and if you are to achieve financial success, you must understand and master these areas.

No matter how modest your income may seem to you, over your lifetime a fortune will pass through your hands.  But it’s up to you to ensure that you keep as much as possible because only what you keep will matter to your financial success.

Don’t allow yourself to be tempted into believing that you can’t save because of the struggles of just living day to day. You can and you must. You must also ensure that:

  1. You fully understand money and how it works
  2. You have financial goals and that they are in writing, specific and measurable.
  3. You have a financial plan. This will do two things for you, firstly it will help you develop a plan to ensure that you achieve of your goals. Secondly, it helps you decide on the price you are willing to pay to achieve your goals.
  4. You spend less that you earn.
  5. You start now to take control of your finances.

Taking control of your finances initially will not be easy as developing new habits never are. But as you continue to discipline yourself, you will be surprise at how easy it becomes. Just keep it simple and take it one day at a time.
